The Shigeru Kawai SK-6 offers Greater Response, Richer Tone and Extended Durability. As part of the Kawai Concert series this piano is uniquely built through traditional methods to produce top-quality sound and performance.
Part of Shigeru Kawai’s concert series and stimulated by the designs of Koichi Kawai, the Shigeru Kawai SK-6 is made from a range of unique hand-made components that allow pianists full freedom of expressivity.
Experience more responsive playing through the extended Keysticks, hand-wound Temaki Bass Strings and hand processed Shiko Seion hammers. With taller Keysticks and lengthened key buttons made from hardwood maple, pianists can now play with increased power and strength. With so many components being developed by hand, this slow yet thorough process results in the unique sound character Kawai pianos can offer.
Listen to the rich tonal quality produced by the custom-made soundboard made from only the highest-grade spruce, a wood specially conditioned and developed using the natural and traditional wood-ageing Kigarashi process. The millennium III Action is made of carbon fibre parts that are strong and light allowing for faster repetitions and improved control. For musicians looking for a bold and well-rounded sound, the Konsei Katagi Rim made from a mix of distinct hardwoods, balances the tone perfectly. Delicate tonal expression can also be achieved through the dual-pivot damper design that gives smoother half-pedal control.
Less maintenance is required as tuning is stable due to the durable and rigid Stretcher Over-Lap Integrated Design framework where the strings are fitted. The bright, powerful and imposing tone is created by the strings passing through agraffes manufactured from billet brass rods.
Not one Shigeru Kawai piano is sent out into the world without being thoroughly examined by the highly esteemed Master Piano Artisans (MPA), the finest piano technicians who ensure you are delivered a piano that is the work of uncompromising craftsmanship.
