Referred to as the artists “grand for all seasons” the Kawai GX-5 Grand Piano adapts to a versatile range of performance venues and musical requirements. This instruments exceptional power and resplendent tone contribute to it being the artists’ choice for large home recording studios or smaller performance venues.
A distinctive instrument that is part of the new GX-line grand pianos from Kawai, the Kawai GX-5 applies decades of experience and knowledge by combining traditional craftmanship with state-of-the-art technology.
The Kawai GX-5 is a distinguished instrument that is large enough to provide the tonal power and bass resonance for a recital hall, but not so large it overwhelms studios with limited space. This “grand for all seasons” has incredible adaptability making it suitable for an array of performance venues.
The GX series have a focus on vivid, expressive and rich tones that offer the pianist a fantastic range of tonal expressiveness.
The new GX series grand pianos aim to reproduce the control of a full concert grand piano and they have achieved this by applying decades of experience and knowledge and by combining traditional craftmanship with state-of-the-art technology. The instruments duplex scale system further enhances the harmonics of middle and upper-range tones, adding depth and breadth to the overall sound. Its design incorporates a broad range of woods that are meticulously analysed for quality and character and ensure an excellent large body of sound that is as balanced as it is distinctive.
Kawai have made a significant extension of the length of the keyboard and due to this a greater expressive control is afforded to the pianist. The Kawai GX-5 offers a more consistent touch weight when playing towards the extended key pivot length which results in a more consistent touch weight when playing towards the back of the keyboard. The result? A broader range of sound that allows the pianist a greater expressive power.
The Kawai GX series advanced Millennium III keyboard action incorporates the latest materials combining ABS resin with carbon fibre. The ABS-Carbon compound is incredibly rigid and lightweight and ensures the GX series’ keyboard action has increased durability, improved control and responsiveness and is less prone to degradation over time. Kawai have been able to produce a more immersive, richer sound by improving the overall rigidity of the GX instruments body.
In the words of Kawai “A new era of grand piano performance has arrived.”
